pride and prejudice

watched it last night at the gorgeous theatre i mentioned earlier. Good stuff!!! haha. I really loved it. Might i also point you to the official site. Very beautiful wallpapers etc.

actors

*sigh* matthew macfadyen (darcy) is so hot ^^ loved his low voice and those beautiful blue eyes!! A very different darcy from colin firth. Mayhap not the best darcy representation, but he certainly is hot as darcy *lol* He holds his own to colin's darcy, quite hard to actually compare since they are very different. This darcy is awkward and oh so sweet! his eyes seem to say a million things at one time. I love his subtly nuanced performance. Especially the proposal. That was very nicely done! And when he said 'i love you' i was amazed how he managed to convey the desperation, hopelessness and passion together with darcy's shy and awkward manner. Classic! My latest entry into the top ten list of favourite actors ^^ He really brought the show together, more so than Keira in any case.

keira's elizabeth is also just right. Spirited, young, lively. Not as stately as the BBC version, but it works nonetheless. And she looked gorgeous as usual *lol*

Mr Bingley - ewwwwwww. This guy was all bumbly and goofy looking! Not the least bit charming. In fact, he kinda reminded me of Ron when he grows up *lol* The same red hair and goofy facial expressions! Ok, granted he looked pretty good when he wasn't talking or acting moonstruck. But well, they could've gotten someone better looking.... *lol* Otherwise he provided most of the comedy in the show *lol*

Mr Collins - *LOL* amusing. Totally. Short and stiff and proper. *lol*

Wicam - bit part, but wow. the guy has wonderful cheekbones *lol* coupled with his soldier costume, he was very good looking. Think orlando bloom, but with a very square jaw. In fact, you could cover the top half of his face, and he'll look like orli haha.

cinematography and soundtrack

wow. Beautiful. I was very impressed with the sheer beauty of the movie. That coupled with a gorgeous piano soundtrack made the movie very enjoyable indeed. I especially loved the scene transitions. There was one scene where they made use of lizzie sitting on a swing to show the passing of the days. Very creative. Very interesting shots too, which dramatised the movie quite a bit, not that i mind really. *lol*

script

very nicely edited, with all the important parts in. Some parts tended to be slightly cheesy, but we can all forgive the director for wanting it to be a feel-good movie, ultimately *lol* After all, everyone has a hidden romantic somewhere inside *lol*

favourite scenes

the proposal. ten thumbs up *lolol* beautifully delivered. I dare say I'll remember it for many years to come. The one scene that i'll buy the dvd for really *lol*

and the last scene with all the snuggling, kissing, 'my dear', 'mrs darcy' and 'my pearl' stuff. *lol* I thought it was real sweet, but all my friends thought it was overdone *shrug* I guess i'm more sentimental than most *lolol*

final verdict

watch it! wonderful feel-good movie. Just do not compare it to the BBC one, as they are totally different. The BBC one was prim and proper, and every bit the staid english gentleman. This feels like a very much updated, younger, pride and prejudice, celebrating first love and true love and all those things. Young and unsure, reckless and beautiful. Love it ^^
