Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Waiting for this humongous file to download, and i thought i'd (finally) blog something. *lol* The past week was a nice one, deliberately closing myself off from the world and just enjoying some quality time with me, myself and I. *lol* Managed to FINALLY finish reading Sandman. Am also 60% through ripping my gigantonomous music collection. Watched old movies, old Glay and Clay Aiken MTVs... good music never disappoints, and one can never have enough of a very good thing ^^V Unexpectedly reignited my love for Glay all over again. Which is not very good all things considered - i.e. more reasons to spend money ^^;;; It's also surprising how even after all this time, watchign Clay Aiken perform live still gives me goosebumps. That guy has an amazing voice. *lol*

And now, for the promised Movie Review *insert random oompa loompa dance scene here* Ripping shamelessly off PL's Movie Review Template (TM) but well, it works, so why not ^^

in general...

VERY VERY GOOD. You can look at previous post for the short but very gushy review. basically ridiculously funny; provided you're geeky enough to appreciate all those small references. Also provided you aren't looking for a very deep/cheem reproduction of the original book. The movie is a fun romp, and doesn't try to be particularly clever about things. But if you like quirky Depp + quirky Burton + quirky Dahl, you'd love this. Really. All the oompa loompa songs, and the beautiful sets, and the fantastic acting ^^

acting..

very good. the kids were all wonderful brats. XD I loved the part where Violet and Veruca promised to be 'Best Friends'. Just so sweet valley. *LOL* And Veruca's bit where she goes 'Daddyyy, I want a pooonyyyy' in that impeccable english...*ROTFL* Augustus Gloop and his Bavarian sausage heritage was also a very nice touch. Everyone in the cinema were laughing their heads off at that bit. And depp is NOT like michael jackson lah. I dun see the resemblance to that guy at all O_o I liked the details he put into the character..but then i'm biased ^^ The oompa loompas were VERY CUTE. Loved the dances XDXDXD. Bloody hilarious. Liked the way they did the songs too. Augustus Gloop's and Willy Wonka's were my favourites. haha. Was also very tickled by Willy WOnka's PR team. En was remarking how if not for that, he'd be in deep trouble. I love how he occasionally brings up these cards from which he reads from XD. 'Good morning starshine, Earth says Hello!' is one of my favourites. ^^

the references..

lots. from beatles and KISS to things like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and other Depp movies. Unfortunately, these were, i feel, the bulk of the humour in the movie, so you might think it less enjoyable if you missed them ^^;;;

the verdict..

Watch it, definitely. For the feel-good factor, for the laughs...for the music, for the acting. highly recommended ^^

Aaaaaand, that's it ^^ Short and sweet ^^ Replies later (yay, stejuste is back ^^)
