gaiman and squeeeing part II

yes. this mad fan trooped down to Borders and queued for a friggin' four hours to get another two books signed by Gaiman. O_o It was crazy! There were mad fans all over! We had these two girls in front frantically drawing comics and scribbling love letters for two hours; we had a group of people dressed as the Endless (minus Despair, cos Despair is a large, nekkid baby O_o. their Desire looked less than desirable o_O, and Dream looked like a drowned rat *lol*); we saw this fantastic artist drawing a four page montage of everythign sandman (DAMN GORGEOUS that one); the bloody queue was a human boundary around wheelock place ((O_O))...yeah. you get the idea. Charissa's friend, Daryl, started queuing at 3pm (the thing started at 6). And by then, there was already close to a hundred people in front of him O_O I reached at 4pm, got intrduced to Charissa's other friend Derrick at 4.30pm, met PL at 5pm, alex dropped by at 6.20pm and promptly joined the queue some 50 people in front of us (lucky girl), and Patch joined at 6.30pm, as did his other friends who jumped in at 6.45 O_O What ensued was an amusing mingling session with both old and new friends. *lol* Funny how somethign like a neil gaiman signing could suddenly enlarge your network. *lol*

We took lots of pictures of the queue behind us, because, honestly, i've never seen such a long queue for autographs O_o according to gaiman's blog, there were about a thousand people there that night O_o This, added to the number fans who turned up for the other two days...(i heard the queue in Kinokuniya was so long that they were snaking in and out of the bookshelves)...wow. i never knew the Gaiman fanbase in SG was that HUGE. haha. Granted some were probably 'repeats' like myself, but still! wow.

It was quite funny how he signed my name on PL's book instead due to a mixup by his helper. Luckily it was the same book, and so it was no big deal. But it was a GORGEOUS autograph ^_________^/ He used silver marker to draw this really cool Morpheus silhouette on the black page. Like WOW. ^___^/ AND we got a good picture with him. Finally. ^___^ happy happy happy. i do think, however, that he's as flabbergasted as everyone else as to why there are so many fans in singapore. *lolol*

And so now yours truly is the proud owner of 5 gaiman autographed books. YAY ^____^

Also, on other things, London won the bid. Very happy. One local radio station featured a deranged french man speaking in french, and they were asking listeners if anyone understood that (obviously they did and it was planted. *lol*) it went somethign like, "Paris deux-mille-douze! C'est parfait!!! Parfait!!! Pourquoi???!!! Pourquoi?!!! Londre!!! C'est _____" *LOL* amusing, since the person dramatised the accent alot. and for those who are wondering, it says 'paris 2012! it's perfect! Perfect! Why??/ Why???? London is ___" *haha* he was cussing i think. XD

I was watching the final bid presentations, and New York definitely had the nicest promo vid. ^^ I just discovered that Steven Spielberg was the director behind that. No wonder it was so good. haha. I felt as if I was watching a movie on the people of New York. Certainly made the city sound fantastic and alive. London's was a more no-fuss kind of thing. Though the british accents were really nice *grin* Didn't catch Paris though. Damn. haha.
