batman, music musings and more

watched batman with pig yesterday, and enjoyed it immensely! the show was fantastic, definitely a must watch. the acting was impeccable, and for once the villian was cuter than the hero. *lol* the guy acting as scarecrow was GORGEOUS. like totally drop dead GORGEOUS. Those big blue eyes!!! dark hair!! red pouty lips!!! *lolol* lovely voice too. hahah. he looked like the smallville actor, though with more feminine features. GORGEOUS. XDXD

i loved the action towards the end (gary oldman was almost unrecognisable as the good cop), and was practically biting my nails and holding my breath while everything happened. Alfred (michael caine) was fantastic with his well placed understated british humour. I enjoyed Liam Neeson as always - he has fantastic screen presence; and his role was one of my favourites. I loved the gadgets, all that engineering!!!! waaaaay cool haha. All in all, a very good movie with relevant moral undertones. I've always preferred my comic heroes to have more depth than just the urge to save the world. This movie satisfied that. i wouldn't say it was as good as spiderman 2 though, perhaps because spiderman as a character had more emotional material to draw from, unlike batman. But there was one particular line: Why do we fall? To learn how to pick ourselves up again. Lovely. Watch it.

On other things, i dropped by HMV today. And discovered some things:

1) I've never really forgotten Luna Sea. Watched their Breathe mtv today, and it was nice to experience that thrill again while watching Sugizo play the guitar and Ryuichi hitting those notes effortlessly. I realised i've missed how J plays the bass so well and how Inoran never looks up while playing. It's a pity this band is gone. they were really one of the best ever.

2) and speaking of luna sea, surprise surprise, ryuichi and inoran have formed a band called tourbillon together with this other guy. i was shocked to see them on the front of Fool's Mate. I wonder what the music will be like? Ryu looks cool again. I was getting mighty irritated when he went into the Pop thing.

3) bought TWO joshua bell cds on impulse O_o Romance of the Violin and The Romantic Violin. Listening to them now, and it's fantastic. Joshua Bell has always been my favourite violinist ^^ I almost bought Yo-Yo Ma's Simply Baroque II cos it was also very beautiful, but i went broke T_T

4) sampled the new backstreet boys cd and it's rather decent. not as good as their second one but decent. Though i don't hear as many harmonies as before which is disappointing cos i did like their harmonies best. they sound more like a band than a boyband now. there are more solos and they only sing together at the chorus. I can't complain about the songs cos the cd is rather listenable. I'd only wish they didn't let nick sing so much O_o He still squawks alot O_o

5) bought Here Come The Tears by The Tears, which is 50% Suede i guess you can say. It still sounds like Suede (Brett Anderson's voice is too distinctive to miss). However, Butler and the other band members' influences have tweaked it such that it is Suede, and yet, not really. They're rather more upbeat for one, and less ephemeral in nature. It's more in your face. The cd is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. Been listening to it on repeat for an entire week liao, so you can imagine *lol*
