music recs

because PL took the trouble to sms me just to tell me to recommend good music to her. *lol* Well then, here goes. not much by way of review cos i suck at reviews. ^^; you'll also realise that the word 'nice' figures quite often. my vocabulary today is not very fantastic. ^^

gorillaz - Demon Days: very interesting weird music. my favourite which is Feel Good Inc.

stereophonics - language, sex, violence. other?: good music by a good band. try out Daytona, the first single from this album.

garbage - bleed like me: as good as always, the new one from garbage. actually, PL, any garbage album is good. haha. Beautiful Garbage, especially, is my favourite album. Edgy, sexy, catchy.

ash - free all angels: i like the vocalist. very rockish.

rooster: their debut is very very promising. slightly college punk but not too much. just nice. and good vocals.

david bowie - ziggy stardust: psychedelic music. very very nice.

embrace - out of nothing: their latest. very melancholic, and brit-alt kind of feel.

my chemical romance: haven't actually tried out their debut album, but their singles so far sound really good. PL, you HAVE to catch the MTVs. they are like gothic rock operas, with a bit of the college punk element in. but very nice. hard college goth rock. intriguing mix. ^^

emi fujita - camomile blend and camomile extra: both albums should be heard together. very slow, soothing english jazz, by the vocalist of japanese band Le Couple.

Orange Range: japanese rock/pop band made up of a few teenage boys. it's pop with some country and hip-hop soul thrown in. i first got hooked through their single Hana. try that. and if you like it, you'll prolly like everything else.

the flaming lips - yoshimi battles the pink robots: crazy stuff. the flaming lips specialise in weird out-of-this-world alt rock. you'd either like it or hate it i guess. very funky, very psychedelic, somewhat dreamy, and sometimes just plain weird. but all together very nice. this is one of their classic albums. if you like bowie, you should try this.

goo goo dolls - dizzy up the girl: my favourite album from them. grunge american rock. this album has their classics like iris and january friend and broadway.

greenday - american idiot: i love this album for the one song, Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

HIM - and love said no: gothic hard rock. their greatest hits collection, and rightly so. lovely.

the killers - hot fuss: brit punk i guess you can call it. i suck at describing types of music. haha.

kings of convenience - versus: something like killers. which also sounds something like franz ferdinand, just so you have a feel of the music.

la'cryma christi - deep space syndicate: fav la'cryma album of all time. jrock. very edgy, catchy and enjoyable.

manic street preachers - forever delayed. the greatest hits: GOOD. if you haven't heard this you haven't heard anything. melancholic, cynical, beautiful vocals.

mansun - little kix: reminiscent of manic street preachers. the vocals and style are pretty similar. their best album. IMO. i love the butterfly song. ^^

the polyphonic spree: weird music again. if you can stomach flaming lips, you will like this.

the postal service: same as above.

radiohead - the bends: who cares what they say. this is the BEST radiohead album EVER.

the rasmus - dead letters: old album, by now i guess. dark hard rock. lovely ^^

rooney: one album so far. and i like it. a little of beatles crossed with thrills i guess you could say. very feel-good folksy kind of rock.

robbie williams - the love songs: fantastic greatest hits collection. beautiful voice as always.

rufus wainwright: another artist in the line of typical brit-alt mope rock. but good if you like the genre. he throws in french jazz elements too. ^^

ryan cabrera - take it all away: pop/rock. but good voice and catchy songs. good listening.

scissor sisters: HOT. funky stuff.

snow patrol - the final straw: brit-alt. VERY good.

suede - singles: if you ever want to try suede, try this album. all their best music put together for you. very worth the money.

takui: jrock. good voice. anything by him is pretty good. while you're at it try daigo stardust too.

the thrills: 2 albums so far. i love their distinct country/folk/brit-alt style. very slacker kind of album. good for driving.

tim burgess - i believe: brit-alt. slow, dark, mysterious.

travis - singles: also very good singles collection. ^^

velvet revolver - contraband: hard rock. i love slither.

beatles - One: one of the albums of the century. ^^

coldplay - a rush of blood to the head: classic. better than parachutes IMO. tighter.

aqualung - still life: brit-alt. not very well known but as good as radiohead IMO. ^^

the charlatans - up at the lake: also very good. brit-alt. but edgier.

fountains of wayne - welcome interstate managers: cute stuff from the people who brought you the hit That Thing You Do

keane - hope and fears: classic. the piano riffs are fantastic. they do funny things to your mind.

muse - absolution: just BLOWS my mind away.

lisa ono - dans mon ile: french jazz by a japanese lady. er. but very good.

that's all for the moment. er. i think i overdid it, huh? haha. but yes. obviously i got tired of providing links. and yes, PL, i know you probably heard of most of them. but i guess this turned out to be a rec list for everyone and not just you. haha. hope it helps. else call me XD
