Sunday, June 27, 2004*phew* it's been soooooo long *haha* Finally, a breather *grin* and I can start on all those things I've been meaning to do for awhile *grin* Last saturday's archery competition was...dramatic, I would say. We won lots of medals, but were also totally messed up and unorganised. ^^;; Which prompted lots of short fuses and bad blood between people. Thank goodness it's over though ^^;;;Just held my second archery course yesterday. Thank goodness it was a success. ^^;; It's been so long since I've presented anything in front of the crowd. Took me lots of mental psyching up the night before to do that ^^;; Bleagh. But everyone had fun. That's good ^^ On other things, well... 1. made a new wallpaper. Shall put it up soon-ish, together with my new layout and other things. 2. finally got down to organising my entire digital music library. All files are now neatly named, and organised into their respective genres. ^^V iTunes now tells me I have 7.5 days or 10.8GB worth of digital music on my comp. O_o And that's not counting my cd albums O_O Ooops. ^^; 3. went to kino, and, no thanks to sue, ended up splurging BIGTIME on Lucifer comics (bought almost the entire series) and the new Hanakimi artbook. Much scannage to do. Lucifer is, IMO, the best Sandman spinoff series around. Lots of angels. Lucifer is smooth, and not entirely bad. And, well, michaellookslikeacalvinkleinmodel!!! *squeals* 4. read lots these two weeks. Let's see. Ursula Leguin's Four Ways To Forgiveness and Birthday Of The World, both collections of all her Ekumen short stories. My particular favourite was Coming Of Age In Karhide. I've always had a soft spot for her Karhide society, espcially the androgynous beings XD Hmmm...also started on Douglas Niles' Seven Circles trilogy. Not too bad. The first thing that alerted me to the series was the gorgeous dragon pic on the cover. And the story is surprisingly interesting. Makes for a nice read, though the fantasy premise is not exactly new. Nonetheless, interesting characters. *grin* Current favourite, though has to be Storm Constantine's Palindrake series. Fantastic!!! Reading the first book now, Sea Dragon Heir. Her writing style is very easy to follow, and her characters are memorable, and there's lots of stress on personal struggles and human reliance on gods who aren't always all powerful. Lots of stuff on how gods derive their power from human belief, something Gaiman also touched upon on in American Gods....and the characters are very very open, participating on anything from homosexual activities to incest O_o But I like the ideas behind this story. Very fascinating. A must-read. Gaiman himself liked the book, so there's something there. I tend to trust Gaiman when he says something is a good read ^^ Lastly, fantasy fans should pick up the DAW 30th anniversary Fantasy Anthology. It's a very good collection of short fiction from very good writers, eg. Jane S Fancher, Tanith Lee, Irene Radford, Fiona Patton, Tanya Huff etc etc etc. I loved Jane Fancher's short fic from the Dance Of The Rings universe, called Moonlover and The Fountain Of Blood. Gorgeous story about self-worth and finding love. (and it's *koff*slash*koff*) ^^/ Christopher Stacheff's Coronach Of The Bell was also very beautiful. Mournful, sweeping, gorgeous. 5. Went to the Pierre et Gilles art exhibition at the SG Art Museum a few days ago. Called Beautiful Dragon, the exhibition featured beautiful photos of beautiful young men (okay, well, mostly men) with hand-painted additions like background etc etc etc. Most pictures had a homoerotic touch, which is not surprising considering Pierre et Gilles are actually a couple. Very sparkly, fantastic photo-manipulations. I especially liked the one called Cain et Abel. *jaw drops* I went with sue, see. Both of us could NOT leave the picture *lol* On the left was Abel, a dark-haired thai man with a beautiful intense gaze. On the right, Cain, blonde, golden, blue-eyed and innocent. Both wearing nothing except a short swathe of cloth around their privates ((O_O)) In the next room, you see one nude young man, from the back, in the pose of Michelangelo's David, wearing Mercury's winged helmet and holding his staff. ((O_O)) And I always thought the David's muscles were impossible. I now know they are not. *__* The picture was called Mecury. *sigh* Opposite that, in another room, you see a picture of a dark-haired Eros, with black wings, nude, standing on open books in a library, and making his bow. Very interesting picture -- why is Eros in a library?!!! *lol* The model was a thai boy, but wow. He had really feminine features ^^;;;;;;;; All in all, I loved the exhibition *sighs* Everyone who can should go look. Shu especially, might like it *lol* And for a sampling of the art, click here. Cain and Abel is not featured here, but heck *haha* Every slash fangirl's fantasy I tell you, Gorgeous ^^ yup, that's all for now ^^ shall go back to my layout ^^ A certain knight has been bugging me for ages ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ja. ^^ stardusted at 2:40 AM | link? 0 Call me number 1!© sephirot productions 2008 |
