Tuesday, May 25, 2004fangirls and insanityI am ashamed to say that I've become a true-blue Orli fan. *sigh* Met up with Ningz today for a bit of a chat and Shrek 2 (review later). Wandered into Borders (woe betide me) and saw the May issue of Empire Magazine (UK) on display. Said magazine was on sale. And said magazine had two collector's special covers - Archilles and Paris. Said magazine promoters were also very evil/devious/cruel (insert suitable cuss word here) enough to wrap each and every magazine in NON-transparent foil, and reinforced this with two rounds of tough masking tape around the entire package. Which left me at a loss since there was absolutely NO WAY one could see if the cover was of Paris or not *sob* And the magazine was bloody expensive. No way I was going to buy another ^^; After some unsuccessful begging at the info counter to let us open the thing, I grabbed two copies, stuffed an extra in Ningz' hands for luck, and dragged her to a corner to start our Big Project to Uncover the Posterboy. *big sweatdrop* First magazine we took ended up having the corner ripped open by one over-zealous fan (i.e. me). Managed to uncover two things: a) the corner was golden, b) the magazine was put in the wrong way up. Couldn't tell who it was since the the Paris cover display mag had that particular corner torn off. O_O For the second, Ningz, after all sorts of manipulations of the plastic, managed to reveal ONE letter on the cover, through a small scratch in the paint. The letter was 'A'. Which didn't help one jot. &*^%^!!!! So I took over. And after some vigourous rubbing, managed to uncover a bit more of the cover (it was blue). Gave up and started scratching out the paint on another area, and got the words 'Book I'. =_= By then, we had spent 20 min trying to decipher the thing. So I gave up on the third, and went back to the shelf. Seeing the two covers, however, gave me some inspiration. Turned out that Specimen #2 was an Archilles cover after all (Paris covers have the words 'Book III' somewhere else). And after some examination, managed to also deduce that Specimen #1 was a Paris cover!!!! *dances around* See, Paris covers have him placed on the right, so the corner would feature his golden armour. Archilles covers, however, have Pitt on the left, so that corner would be black ^^V And so, the story of my, er, Empire escapade. Not too bad, considering that my luck was actually good. For once the first book I picked up was the right one after all. XD Ningz bought Total Film (for Harry Potter) and I got the nice pic of Paris holding his bow. XD XD XD Thanks ningz!!!! *LOLOL* It's nice when your friend is crazy over a different fandom. XD *yawn* ok, replies later. Suffice to say that Shrek 2 was a good movie. Not fantastic, but good while it lasted. The LOTR and Mission Impossible spoofs were priceless. So was Prince Charming and the HAIR ((O_O)), Pinocchio and the lies and the short-lived 'I am a real boy!!!' bit, and the gender confused characters sprinkled all over *rotfl* Fairy godmother was scaaaaaaary though. ^^;;; And Puss was SHO CUUUUUUUTE!!!!!! ^^ All in all, a good romp. I just want my ROTK extended dvd, dammit. ^_^/ stardusted at 12:37 PM | link? 0 Call me number 1!© sephirot productions 2008 |
