Dream Theatre

Yupyup, I just discovered Dream Theatre music *sigh* It's beautiful! Every bit of it!! In jrock terms, you might call it the improved version of X-Japan-meets-malice-mizer. Wonderful stuff. It's a lot heavier than I'm used to, but there are exceptions *grin* I like the way they layer thier music, and take it to such epic proportions. The vocalist sounds nice and vulnerable, while the guitarist is AMAZING and the pianist is a genius *sigh* Go try it. ^^

On other things, here's some replies, first a long overdue one to Scube, and then some others for a certain prat, stejuste and xeph ^^

my favourite album is actually Style. It's got a rather heavy and angsty sound which I find very attractive and very characteristic of Luna Sea, for some reason. I never really got into Eden though... but Providence is an extremely beautiful track. Well, I guess yes, I for you was really overplayed ^^;; That was probably why I kind of um, shunned it in the beginning... but it gets a lot better after a while ^^

Really?? I never really really liked style, as it didn't leave a very strong impression on me ^^; Iliked eden because it was a weird album, and that might also be why you didn't liek it ^^ I LOVE providence. It's my all time favourite song. Anything with Sugi's violin just blows me away ^^ My other favourites are In My Dream and I Wish. I love those songs to bits

I often think of Luna Sea's music as a very cohesive piece, ie, something I probably wouldn't take apart to listen to individually like Dir en grey. But yes I would agree with the ethereal bit. There's just this quality about their songs that is very fantastical somehow... and yet, they seem simple and pure and very melodious. Perhaps that's just what 'classic rock' is about? haha.. I felt that Ryu's voice was very difficult to get used to in the beginning, not unless you've heard their earlier stuff when he wasn't that err 'whinny' yet ^^;

*big nod* Ryu's new whiny voice really kinda sucks ^^;;; Hm, I dunno, but I feel DEG cannot be listened to as an album because you'll get bored ^^;;; At least, that happened to me ^^ I don't really like them now because their new music suddenly evolved to plain noise *sigh* I really only loved their first two albums. Am trying to get rid of the third now, so if you know anyone who wants a first press kisou, cheap, tell me ^^ And if anyone wants Penicillin's best collection, tell me too *grinz*

I personally am not very fond of happy songs in generally, much less 'happy rock' ^^; Perhaps that's why. But Glay has some rather catchy numbers I think. You know, even though L'Arc seems to keep changing their style, there is just this very characteristic and fundamental quality about them that stays the same throughout. It is this quality that keeps their fans I guess ^^

I think i know what you mean regarding larc's style. their music tends to be like their namesake, very 'airy' and 'floaty' *lol* I can't really describe it. It's like, LS is ethereal in a dark way, while larc is ethereal in a very slick, modern kind of way *grin* Methinks I'm making no sense at all *grin*

hehe I don't remember whether I watched Wonderful World on Music Station or not XD but I guess even the PV itself was horrendous, lol XD I caught Shinkirou on Music Station and it was just that kind of setsunai and catchy song ^^ finale has to be one of his best I guess... though, initially I thought it was composed by ken! ^^; I really like ken's melodies and I think ken and hyde both make very good songs together ^^

*lol* Yeah, I remembered the PV. O_o It was just lots of girls jumping around. Talk about D.U.M.B *lol* I agree too, Ken makes very good music. Hm, when did he write together with hyde?

Sugi's solo... you mean his TRUTH? album? ^^ I did buy that... (for reasons unknown ^^;) well, I never used to like trance, or anything quite similar for the matter but I think he did it pretty okay. As for his violins, I really loved it in Providence, as I have already mentioned ^^;;; I think it's a really beautiful piece *^^*

*lol* I bought Truth cos it was sugi's solo. The same way I've been collecting ryu's solos, though I don't knwo why I'm still buying them O_o I thought Sugi's was at least interesting, compared to ryu. Ryu just made this about turn and started writing sappy love songs with bad engrish >.< Have you heard Sugi's other solo work, the Soundtrack OST? That one is rather good too ^^ Less trance, more like violins and violins and violins *grin* Very indusive for sleeping ^^

haha, yep! I swore off Kai too, even though I'm usually obsessive enough to buy every single CD my favourite bands release. I'm not sure if you remember but I avoided Gackt's Mizerable Remix at all cost too hehe XD Actually, R&B and techno is not always bad... it depends, I guess. There'll always be some good songs amongst them. As for rap, unfortunately, I am still unable to relate to it at all -_-;; When 'nu-metal' first got popularised by Limp Bizkit, I loathed it -_-; But Linkin Park made it into an okay thing... so I guess at the end of the day, it still all depends ^^

*lol* I only buy the proper releases, I never ever buy remixes. I hate music with either a)repetitive tunes or b)no tune. >.< Don't really like metal either, since they almost always end up in incessant noise *sigh* I don't like Limp Bizkit too, but I must admit, the Rolling song was addictive, in a very screwed up way ^^ I used to like them somewhat, but now I've sworn off hard stuff completely. I think i've grown out of the angsty teen phase *lol* Maa, I tried Linkin Park's first album before, and got quite bored after ^^;; I mean, the single was good, but the album in it's entirety was rather repetitive. The same tune tends to repeat in every song, for some reason. But perhaps it was because I was beginning to like alt rock more, so they didn't appeal to me ^^

re.mitsuru vs sakito: hehe, he does, he does! XD They both have very sharp noses and chins... I think that's where the resemblance lies ^^ You know, Sakito looks especially like Mitsuru when he had blond hair and no make up........ ^^;;;

No he doesn't ^^ I like sakito a lot *grin* they do not look alike ^^ Sakito has more feminine features ^^

I remember watching SMAPxSMAP while I was in Japan and I must admit they are actually pretty good actors ^^; (I mean, that show has been running for ages too! o_O) Though, they really can't sing! ^^;;;

I agree. The Smap guys are rather convincing actors. I've seen most of them act, except that Goro and the short guy (the one who talks alot ^^) I think Takuya Kimura and Katori Shingo are really the best out of the lot. *grin* I watched SmapxSmap once too, when I was in japan, and was appalled when they started to sing O_O It was really horrible!!! Gawd. I was traumatised for a bit after that *lol* They really should stick to acting *grin* But I really liked one of their old songs, the one that went Kimi iro something. *hehe*

re.mitsuru on MS: haha, yep I watched that!! XD That just sounds very Ryu I think XD If I'm not wrong, I think Ryu was initially their producer? That's why... hehe (perhaps kinda like a Yoshiki-Diru relationship?) But you know, one day they showed Sophia's earlier PVs on Music Station and I thought they kinda looked err.. L'Arc inspired o_O;;;; (Mitsuru had blue hair like Sakito too though! ^^;)

Hm, i'm not too sure about that. ^^ I only know ryu sort of made them famous ^^ *rotfl* I've yet to see mitsuru in blue hair. That would be shocking. Indeedy ^^

re.yaoi comic: ...But it's worth it!!! XD The plot is cohesive and the art is lovely. Do try it if you need something to read *^^*

Hai, hai, I will ^^ I just found that famous comic rental store in toa payoh. They have this entire section dedicated to shonen ai, and the entire series is there for $1.50 a book. I think I might just rent it ^^

ninth gate is easily available everywhere since it's a recent movie (although i wonder if they would have censored the sex scene over there). 21 jump street was a series from the 80s and it may not be readily available.. at least i haven't seen it on dvd or vhs anywhere... if you're lucky they'll have reruns on some channel :} :)

*prays hard* I hope so ^^ The only Depp movie Singapore TV seems to air is Edward scissorhands O_o They've been airing it almost every year for the past few years, only i never managed to catch it until now ^^;

i like these two guys and i like the blue, but if you've got more prettiness for us to ~appreciate~ then i say bring it on!!! :> :)

I have No idea *lol* I dunno which anime they're from, I only know the mangaka, since I believe I got it from some scan site ^^ I'll tell you if I ever find out ^^ Yupyup, I thought it was so sweet too *sigh* Just perfect for a wallpaper....hmm....*light bulb lights up* I think I just got inspiration again *lol* Funny how my layouts tend to inspire my wallpaper designs *lol*

Because there's such a plethora of A/L stories out there and almost every conceivable storyline's been done to death! Why can't Aragon and Legolas boff each other like bunnies on equal manly terms without either taking on het characteristics???
