Friday, April 25, 2003Watched Oliver! the musical today, and it was brilliant! It was also the first musical I've ever watched in my entire life, and naturally, i was verily impressed. Singaporean behaviour, however, left much to be desired. *SIGH* There was this group of guys who not only had the gall to come late, they also managed to botch up their seating arrangements. So, for the first five minutes, they irked the entire row by forcing us to stand up to allow them to pass; and for the next five minutes, they irked us even more by standing right in front of me and my friend and not budging since they were at a loss as to what to do when they couldn't find their seat. It got so bad that i finally snapped at them to occupy the empty seats nearby and settle their big 'problem' later. Guys! *rolls eyes* So thanks to that, I missed one of the more hilarious scenes *growl* I was also mightily irritated by a kid next to me who wouldn't stop talking. And her dear father didn't tell her to shut up!! *mutter* Add that to the fact that we were stuck on the top floor and reduced to seeing little minatures on stage, and you can imagine just how mad I was >.<But the best was yet to come! During the interval, the dear usher informed us that he had directed us to the wrong seats, that we were actually supposed to be seating one floor lower!!!!!!!! Which got us stark raving mad since we spent a good 90 bucks on the damn ticket, and were forced to watch the first part of the show squinting. That guy was lucky he did it to us and not someone else. Other people would most likely scream their heads off there and then >.< On the brighter side, at least we got to watch the second half in relative confort, and with the actors actually visible *sigh* Other than that, the musical was wonderful! The actors were great, the sets were ornate and beautiful, and the songs were terrific! I loved Fagan and the Artful Dodger. They were very well portrayed by the actors. And the kids were sooo cute ^^/ The sound system at the Esplanade was also really cool. But my favourite was how they managed to show the scene of a train passing. They darkened the lights, and showed only the light cast on the ground by a passing train. Which had me rather impressed for a moment there ^^ And I liked the song that went "Food, Glorious Food..." *big grin* Also managed to catch some rather good animes over the weekend, namely Getbackers and Fruits Basket. [rant] Aiiiiieeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Fruits Basket is sooooooooooooooo cuuute!!!!!!!!! *squeal* I really really really really want to glomp Kyo-chan and Yuki-chan and Shigure-chan and Momiji-chan and Ayame-chan and Hatori-chan...*sigh* All of them are soooooooooooooo cuuuuuuute!!!!!!!!!!!! [/rant] Ahem. Anyway, Fruits Basket (furuba) is a very enjoyable anime which talks about this Souma family which is cursed such that each member is 'possessed' by one of the twelve animals of the chinese Zodiac. There's also an extra, the cat *_* Thing is, each of these members turn into the animal they represent when hugged by the opposite sex *big sweatdrop* The guy to girl ratio in this anime is something like nine to three, so you can imagine just how nice it is *_* A seeming shojo anime at first, this story soon evolves to become something much more. It deals alot with accepting yourself as who you are, handling social relationships, and basically motivating you to go on. I found myself being inspired by the spirit of the story, alongside with laughing damn hard at the antics of all the animals/people XD A very cute, fluffy anime which most girls will like. I do think if you can sit through CardCaptor, you'll be able to enjoy this, though this has a much better storyline and more endearing characters IMO ^^Strongly recommended. 26 eps long, and readily available on Kazaa. Btw, for the yaoi fan, there's many *cough* possibilities *cough* in this show. I've only watched half the episodes, and already I can count around _seven_ possible pairings ^^V Is shonen-ai heaven, this ^^V Another highlilght is the seiyuu. Tomokazu Seki (Touya in CCS, Shuichi in Gravi and Kira in AS) is in. And so is half the cast from the Gravitation anime. K-san in gravi is the dog; Yuki(gravi) is the Dragon etc ^^V *in heaven* As for Getbackers, it's about these two guys, Amano Ginji and Midou Ban. Together, they make up this groups called Getbackers, with their job being, literally, getting back lost things. Both have some magic power - Ginji can generate electricity like an electric eel, and Ban has some super strong grip and hypnotic powers. The basic story examines the relationship between these two friends and their various escapades. XD Good thing about this anime is the exciting storyline - all the missions are never boring, and most times it's also very hilarious. XD For example, Ginji and Ban, being totally broke and very cheapskate, always end up parking their car illegally. Said car almost always ends up being towed away, and the two get even more broke paying for the fine. As one of the characters said, "Those two have no luck with money" XD XD XD Gender-ratio wise, there's many many guys. *big grin* From the macho like the BeastMaster to the feminine (kazuki). Said guys also rather slashable *big big big grin* However, the names of teams in the show tend to get rather unimaginative. For example, Getbackers tend to fight Repossesors (they repossess things ^^;;;;;;) And then there's the Finishers (they kill people)...you get the idea *big sweatdrop* I find myself deciding whether to laugh or groan when I hear those names. Just...so....lame ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;; Otherwise, this is a really good show, with Midou Ban and creepy Dr. Jackal being the main attraction XD Currently 21 eps, and available from BitTorrent. ^^V Sigh, I do believe I'm totally and irrevocably hooked! -_____-|| Damn. *grinz* Lah-dee-dah, I'm feeling inspired. I do think I shall go make a Furuba fansite now ^^V Ciao~ stardusted at 6:11 AM | link? 0 Call me number 1!© sephirot productions 2008 |
