Monday, March 24, 20031. Yesterday night, I ventured out for a stargazing session, only it was more of a star-finding session than anything else. Armed with my trusted (and confoundingly heavy) book of constellations, I stepped into my front yard and promptly began searching. It was rather funny really. There I was in the middle of the garden, late at night, looking into the sky and muttering like a bloody idiot, while the entire world was watching the Miss Singapore Universe. The silence in the garden was regularly punctuated with shouts of 'Gawd she's stupid' and 'Nooo! How can that -person- win??!!!' XDAnyway, I managed to find something using that blasted guide of mine. That stupid book was written for people in the US and so all the dates were wrong ^^;;; I had to painstakingly map the stars to the one constellation I knew, Orion ^_^ And yes. The point of this rather long and rambly narrative is to say I FOUND SIRIUS! *rotfl* Yup. The plan was to find Sirius and then go to sleep. ^^V Turned out that it wasn't that hard at all. Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, and part of Canis Major or the Big Dog. Apt name for Sirius Black ^^ Also saw Gemini, Taurus and Canis Minor (small dog). Though I still can't figure out why Canis Minor is a dog. It looks like a line. *big sweatdrop* 2. Bought Books Of Magic, the prelude to the series proper. It's by Gaiman, and hence has many references to the Endless. I like the idea of one boy, Timothy Powers, who incidentally looks like Harry Potter, being allowed to choose to follow Magic or not. The similarity to harry potter is there - there's the owl, and the glasses. But Books Of Magic was written looong looooooong ago ^^V I recommend the Gaiman one to people who've read Sandman. It's interesting, following the boy through his travels into the past, present and future to help him make his choice. You even get to see how the world ends, or at least how gaiman's world ends - Humans are green (chlorophyll) and fish for spiderclaws from the sea. Then, they die out. The worlds disappear. What's left is the Tarot cards. There's the Fool, the Hierophant, the Queen etcetera. Then they too die. Then Death comes. And she locks the door behind her. The last Endless to go is Destiny. I've always wondered about that. So now I've got an answer ^^ 3. I saw the NEC S900 notebook today. *_* I'm definitely getting it. *sigh* it's a beauty, sleek black casing, less than 2 kg, and with powerful specs. It's a pentium M Centrino!!!!! For the uninitiated, the Centrino is the latest in Intel's line of notebook chips. It's supposed to be a chip integrated with wireless communications capabilities and a powerful new graphics engine. So this means you get a lighter computer that saves electricity and allows you to use the wireless LAN. And, AND, it comes with a DVD-CD-R/RW combo drive built in, 12 inch screen, 40GB of space, 3 USB 2 ports, one firewire port.........*_* Only thing is it costs SGD$3699 -_______-||| So i'm trying to work my ass off now for the money ^^;;; stardusted at 6:04 AM | link? 0 Call me number 1!© sephirot productions 2008 |
