Friday, December 06, 2002Prom's over. Officially. Here's my lil' report *lol*++hair++ This was comparatively easy. Thank goodness I left my hair long! ^__^ I told the lady to pin it all up. And she did that, literally. All the time she was doing it, I could only see her sticking in pin after pin, and then spraying lots and lots of spray. The same happened to all my other friends there. We had a little pin-counting competition at the end of it all in the hotel room, and I came in second, at 30 pins. My friend topped with 40 pins *rotfl* Scary ne. O_O;;; ++Makeup++ *phew* This went well, which made me feel much much better *grin* But it was a hilarious experience. I got 'handpicked' by the supervisor of the shop, the reason being "Your eyebrows are so thick! Like a boy's! That's why I chose you. Cos you need alot of work." *lol* Then, she proceeded to pluck my eyebrows, lecturing me on the merits of thin 'ladylike' eyebrows throughout. I hardly heard her though - all the while I was busy thinking "Ow. owowowow.OW." *lol* It really hurt. >.< Then she went on to berate me for even daring to walk in the streets with ugly eyebrows, and told me to come back to her every month to get them trimmed. No way buster. One time's bad enough, thank you very much. I've decided never to do this again, unless absolutely necessary. ^^;; I actually got quite insulted. I was very very proud of my eyeborws! Hmph. She didn't fool me with that marketing strategy though. Hah. She took about 30 minutes on me, then she cast her eagle eye on all the girls in the room before picking my friend. Seems she berated my poor friend too *lol* Talk about eccentric makeup artists *grin* After all this, we took a taxi back to the hotel to change, and voila, we were ready. ^^;; ++The Ball++ Oooh, this was pretty. It started one hour late though, so we all were crammed into this waiting room for about 30 minutes, which nearly ruined all my makeup ^^;; Everyone was moving around, trying to take pictures. It was very chaotic, but very fun ^^ The entire prom began with lots of pomp - the lights were turned out, and they got a guy to play the trumpet in true medieval style. When that was done, the large (and I mean LARGE) doors were thrown open, revealing a beautiful ballroom with pretty chandeliers and long long rows of tables with lighted candles placed on them. It was beautiful, not unlike the scene in the harry potter movie where they throw open the doors to the hall. It was really beautiful *grin* and everybody went "Wow." Had lots of fun in the waiting room surprising the guys in my class. None of them recognised me. *lol* It took them awhile before one guy went "Are you really..?" *rotfl* The jaw-drop had to be the funniest. *heh* I think it was the fact that I wasn't wearing glasses, and I wasn't wearing pants *lol* The guys in my class were very sweet - they bought roses for every single girl in the class, which was a nice touch. Another friend of mine gave me a rose, which was very unexpected. This made me very happy for the rest of the night *heh heh* After entering the ballroom, everyone took their seats, and the food started coming. It was really really really good ^______^ Unlike The Other College, ours was a western/french threee course meal, made up of mushroom soup, chicken fillet and tiramisu for dessert. Yum. ^___^ It was so good that everyone cleared their plates - something rare considering that most people usually just take pictures and forget all about the food. ^^ Entertainment wise, we had our own students performing various jazzy/soft rock numbers, which made for a good atmosphere. The performances were really good - someone even sand coldplay songs. Nice. ^^ Only gripe was the DJ. He has to be the most irritating DJ in the world! He made lots of jokes that garnered withering looks instead of laughter ^^; Lots of prizes were given out during the prom. They had things llike HMV vouchers, the Xbox, and other great stuff. Pity I lost my ticket. I was sure I won something. ^^; The highllight of the day was the competition for Dancing Queen and King. The nominees had to come up with an impromtu dance on stage accoring to the music given to them. One guy stole a white plastic rose and started doing a latin number, which was very impressive ^^ Before long, the prom ended~! Time passed so fast! It felt like an hour rather than four hours. Towards the end, I was seriously hobbling, My legs hurt! *whine* But I had to do it for beauty's sake *sigh* Besides the fact that my contacts were moving, my legs were hurting, and I was losing my voice, it was very very very fun. ^^ ++After prom** We all trooped to the hotel room to chat. It's amazing how much you can talk about on a comfy king-sized bed *lol* We talked and played cards all the way to 3am, and then decided to take a walk around the hotel. Apparently, half the school trooped down to a pub for another party. We didn't attend, but we got entertained by all those drunkards returning from the party *lol* I met a friend of mine in the lift. The exchange went something like this: me: Hi! So, you went pubbing huh? her: *drawls* yeah. m: Was it fun then? h: *smiles and nods lazily* yeah. m: gee, how much did you drink? h: *holds up two shaky fingers* Two bottles. m: Wow. ^^;;;; *lift reaches 7th floor* Well, see ya! h: *holds up one hand and waves it daintily* Ta-ta.*beams lazily, and looks like she's about to collapse into a heap on the lift floor* It was really hilarious since my friend is prim and proper, and will never, ever, say 'tata', much less say it in a bimbotic way *rotfl* Alcohol does wonders ^____^U Some other friends of mine also did an experiment on this drunk school genius - they started firing chemistry questions at him. Seems he still managed to answer correctly. Not bad! *rotfl* Why they actually thought of doing that beats me ^^;;; So yes, we slept at 5am, and woke up at around 10am. *lol* ++the next day++ We skipped breakfast and went straight to lunch. We sat in front of a large cinema screen for lunch, and entertained ourselves by categorising the different LOTR trailers they were showing. We came up with a few: the 'One legolas scene' one, the 'three legolas scenes' one, a short one , a long one, and a 'purely aragorn and hence lousy' one. ^^V We also amused oursleves by seeing who could be the most convincing legolas fan - this began an entire squealing session whenever legolas appeared *rotfl* Then, we saw Die Another Day. I thought the movie sucked, not because of the actors, but because of the song, the plot and the unimaginative gadgets. *sigh* I mean, the invisible car was about the only cool thing around! Everything else was so normal, and not something you'd expect out of a Bond movie. Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry's talents were wasted! *Tsk* Later, rushed back to the hotel to help, or rather try to help pl get her costume done. She looked gorgeous! Really loved the suit and all that makeup. ^^ *heh* Could tell she was having lots of fun scaring the living daylights out of people. You make a great mana, pl~! ^^ Met raydance too - she was a gothic lolitta. My mum saw her pic and went "So cute!" And she did look cute *lol* Then, while The Other College was having their prom, we sat in the hotel room and watched the Amazing Race. They came to Singapore! The part where they got lost in Chua Chu Kang looking for Phua Chu Kang (a local tv celebrity) set us laughing so hard we nearly fell off the bed. ^^ Phua Chu Kang was mispronounced as 'Foo Koo Keang" by Ken and Gerald, which got us laughing even harder *rotfl* Goodness! I've never laughed so hard in my life! You guys have to watch! For Singaporeans, I think they're repeating it on sunday! Don't miss it! *yawn* That was about it I guess. We spent another sleepless night in the hotel before going home the nex morning. I guess I shall try and catch up on the lost dreams now.
