Gee, just switched ont he TV, and saw a really interesting documentary on the murder of Tuktankhamen - his prime minister killed him, stole his wife, became king, and died three years later. A rather big waste of effort, if you ask me. ^^
Some social blogging, mainly to dear 'ol stejuste *grin*
+Anne Rice+
*meep* Uh...on second thought, may I add "Read At Your Own Risk"? *grin* I liked The Tale of The Body-Thief because it's something that Anne Rice doesn't always write about. There's less incomprehensible angst and musings, for one thing. It's more exciting. I'd have to warn you again though - Memnoch is a real puzzle. I came out feeling I read something way out of my depth. Violin is about a girl, a violin and a ghost who is(was) a violinist. Vittorio is about a boy who had his whole family killed by vampires. Somewhere along the line, he was suddenly able to see angels. Cool. You can basically see the main attraction this book held for me. *grin* It ended off with him being damned when he became a vampire. I love it. ^_____^
I love her hubby's poems too! Dark. Cool. (These two words basically make up my whole vocabulary for anything gothic). I'd say, though, that Anne Rice writes well. It's when she starts insinuating little scenes of her dark fantasies that I begin to cringe. Personally, I think her sister is the best. You might want to try the werewolf series. I think one of them is called "Silver Wolf".
As for the Merrick book, is it possible to send it through email? The addy's at the bottom of this page I think.
+Good Omens/Gaiman+
READ IT. Honest. There's a good balance between Gaiman's dry humour and Pratchett's craziness. They actually meld together quite nicely. Well, I've finished the book, and I didn't end up as a schizophrenic (if that's anything to go by). So don't worry. If anything, you might even be enlightened. *grin*
I thought Gaiman -went- to the states?? Hmm, I'm not very sure, but you could always check at his journal. He has a well-updated schedule. ^^ And the book is Coraline, dear. It's going to be made into a movie! *yay*! It has been out for quite some time now *lol*
+Slash+
Yup, I had the same reaction when I read FFVIII slash. Sue forced me (and i mean literally, with a knife at my throat) to read a -wedding- fic between Cipher and Squall. O_O My innocence was forever lost after that. She also introduced me to this site called "Happy Valley Puppy Farm" which specialises in SiriusxLupin. I think the title of the page itself is disturbing...^^;;;;; *Bap* How could you forget Lupin??!!! He's the really cute werewolf teacher *dreamy look*. As for LegolasxAragorn...*sly grin* Now you know. *heeheehee* Oh, you may want to try the "Secret Diaries Of Lord Of The Rings". The link is on the left. It's hilarious! Most LOTR fans I know have read it.
+Harry Potter Fanart+
Some linx I thought I'd throw in for the fun of it:
This is the really good one. The one with the memorable lupi x sirius artwork. *swoon*
These are sites with links to many many fanart sites. My advice is, go for the japanese ones first. They're beautiful. Lupin is blonde. Sirius is dark brown/blue haired, usually. And Harry bears a close resemblance to Eriol.
